  • Gripping Documentary #WhileBlack explores the Human Cost of Viral Citizen Journalism as it premieres at SXSW 2026

#WhileBlack is a visually striking documentary that examines how citizen journalism is being transformed, where memory, justice, and spectacle collide.

AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, March 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The new must-see documentary #WhileBlack, co-directed by Sidney Fussell and Jennifer Holness, will make its SXSW premiere tonight at the Alamo Lamar 4, with a live introduction and Q&A immediately following. #While Black is in competition for the Documentary Feature Jury Award at the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas. Recognized globally as one of the premier festivals for launching groundbreaking films and new voices in storytelling, SXSW’s Documentary Feature Competition spotlights filmmakers tackling timely cultural and social issues through compelling cinematic storytelling.

#WhileBlack follows citizen journalists, including Diamond Reynolds and Darnella Frazier, whose cellphone videos from Minneapolis changed the national conversation around policing and accountability overnight. Viewed over 1.4 billion times in just 12 days, Darnella’s video sparked protests in more than 2,000 cities around the world. The documentary also weaves in Diamond Reynolds, who livestreamed the 2016 police killing of Philando Castile on Facebook Live, a moment that generated massive revenues for the platform. Today, she is fighting for copyright control of footage that reshaped her life.

The film offers a deeper look at the individuals behind the viral moments and the emotional and societal impact of documenting history in real time. “For me, this film is about the people behind the footage,” said co-director Jennifer Holness. “We all remember the videos that changed the conversation, but we rarely talk about what happens to the individuals who recorded them. These are ordinary people who suddenly find themselves at the center of history. #WhileBlack looks at their humanity, their courage, and the emotional cost of documenting truth in real time.”

Co-director Sidney Fussell said the film also explores the evolving role technology plays in shaping how these moments are shared. “We live in an era where a single phone can expose injustice to the world in seconds,” Fussell said. “But once that video enters the digital ecosystem, it moves through platforms, algorithms, and data systems that amplify it and shape how it’s seen. #WhileBlack looks at that intersection of technology, media, and accountability and asks us to think about what happens after those videos go viral.”

Experts like Allissa Richardson and Safiya Noble frame this new era of Black witnessing, where tech platforms hold rights to the very videos that document Black pain. They contrast this with earlier historical moments like Rodney King’s beating, when footage existed outside corporate ownership, underscoring the profound shift in who controls these narratives today. But it also laid bare the complex reality of “witnessing while Black,” where race, technology, and trauma intersect. Ultimately, this film is not only about justice, but it’s also about social media itself: who controls the narrative, who profits from it, and who is left to carry its weight.

As conversations around surveillance, public accountability, and citizen journalism continue to evolve, #WhileBlack arrives at SXSW as part of a global platform for stories that spark dialogue and deepen understanding. Listed below are details to attend #WhileBlack screenings at SXSW 2026:

  • French Quarter Festival Returns April 16–19 with Free Music, Local Cuisine, and Four Days of Celebration in New Orleans

Beloved annual festival highlights local musicians, iconic Louisiana food vendors, and the culture of the historic French Quarter

“There are a lot of places I like, but I like New Orleans better.” — Bob Dylan”
    — — Bob Dylan

NEW ORLEANS, LA, UNITED STATES, March 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — One of the most anticipated spring traditions in New Orleans will return as the French Quarter Festival takes place April 16–19, 2026, transforming the historic French Quarter and Mississippi Riverfront into a four-day celebration of music, food, and local culture.

Widely recognized by residents as the number one annual festival among locals, French Quarter Festival has grown into one of the largest free music festivals in the United States. Each year, the event attracts visitors from across the country while maintaining its focus on showcasing the musicians, cuisine, and cultural traditions that define New Orleans.

Spanning more than 20 stages throughout the French Quarter and along the Mississippi River, the festival presents hundreds of performances featuring Louisiana musicians representing genres such as traditional jazz, brass band, gospel, zydeco, rhythm and blues, funk, and contemporary Louisiana roots music. Many of the performers are well-known regional artists who contribute to New Orleans’ long-standing reputation as one of the most influential music cities in the world.

Festival stages are located throughout several historic areas of the French Quarter, including Jackson Square, Woldenberg Park along the Mississippi River, and a variety of courtyards and street locations throughout the neighborhood. The walkable layout allows visitors to move easily between performances while experiencing the architecture and atmosphere that make the French Quarter one of the most recognizable historic districts in the United States.

In addition to the music lineup, the festival is widely known for its exceptional culinary offerings. Dozens of food booths operated by local New Orleans restaurants and vendors serve regional specialties, creating what many attendees consider one of the most impressive outdoor food experiences in the country.

Festival food vendors traditionally offer a wide range of New Orleans favorites including crawfish bread, shrimp and grits, po-boys, crawfish étouffée, jambalaya, Gulf seafood dishes, and other Louisiana classics. The event allows visitors to sample signature dishes from well-known local restaurants while enjoying live performances throughout the Quarter.

“No city celebrates music and food together quite like New Orleans,” said Karen Brem, Marketing Director of the Historic Mardi Gras Inn. “French Quarter Festival brings together local musicians and some of the best restaurant vendors in the city, giving visitors a chance to experience the culture that makes New Orleans so unique.”

Because the festival takes place throughout the French Quarter and riverfront, attendees are able to explore different stages, sample food from multiple vendors, and discover new musicians throughout the weekend. The event’s open layout and free admission make it accessible to visitors and residents alike.

Early spring is also one of the most pleasant times of year to visit New Orleans, when warm temperatures and seasonal breezes create an ideal setting for outdoor events along the riverfront and throughout the historic district.

Visitors attending the festival will find the Historic Mardi Gras Inn, a recently renovated and LGBTQ+ owned and operated hotel, conveniently located just one short block from the French Quarter. Its proximity allows guests easy walking access to festival stages, food vendors, and nearby nightlife throughout the Quarter.

French Quarter Festival remains free to the public and serves as a major kickoff to New Orleans’ annual spring festival season.

Additional information, festival schedules, and performance announcements are expected to be released as the event approaches.

  • Global Sleep Crisis: Sleep Solutions for World Sleep Day

AchievingSleep.com Introduces Programs to Help People Sleep in 15 Minutes

Sleep is the best recovery you can have.”
    — LeBron James

VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, March 12, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — As the world observes World Sleep Day on March 13, 2026, a global initiative to raise awareness that healthy sleep is fundamental to overall well-being, attention is turning to a growing worldwide problem: millions of people are suffering from chronic sleep deprivation.

Sleep experts estimate that more than 35% of adults worldwide do not get enough sleep, leaving them exhausted, mentally foggy, and struggling to function. Sleep loss has become one of the fastest-growing public health challenges of modern life, often leading to disastrous consequences for health and cognitive decline, as well as costly mistakes and accidents.

World Sleep Day brings together researchers, healthcare providers, and educators in more than 70 countries to promote sleep health as a core pillar of wellness. This year’s theme, “Sleep Well, Live Better,” highlights the essential role sleep plays in physical health, emotional resilience, mental well-being, safety, and performance.

In response to the growing need for effective sleep support, AchievingSleep.com is releasing seven signature Sleep Solutions designed to help people fall asleep faster and experience deeper, more restorative sleep throughout the night. Available to the public online for the first time, these guided audio programs address common nighttime challenges including racing thoughts, emotional stress and overload, grief and heartbreak, loneliness, anxious thinking, and high-performance exhaustion.

Grace Dale, founder of AchievingSleep.com and a sleep transformation guide, has spent 35 years helping people access deeper states of peace and relaxation. Dale says the pressures of modern lifestyles are making it harder for people to quiet their minds at night or fall asleep naturally.

“People today are carrying far more mental stimulation than ever before, as well as stress, anxiety and worry caused by uncertainty in the world,” Dale explains. “When the mind remains active, sleep becomes challenging. But with the right guidance, sleep can return naturally — often much faster than people expect.”

“Sleep doesn’t have to be a struggle,” says Dale. “Our Sleep Solutions™ help you sleep better, so you can feel better, think better, perform better and live better.”

Each Sleep Solution gently guides the listener toward sleep in approximately 15 minutes, helping the mind and body transition naturally into deeper sleep states where true restoration occurs. Priced at $10, each program is a voice-only audio experience designed to quiet the mind, calm the nervous system, and promote mind-body coherence for natural sleep onset.

AchievingSleep.com also offers a FREE 7-minute Daytime Reset to Release Overwhelm, designed to help individuals release mental and emotional pressure so sleep comes more easily at night.

“It is our mission to help end the suffering of sleeplessness — because how well you sleep determines how well you live,” Dale says.

This Webinar explores how enterprises evaluate document automation and Intelligent Document Processing platforms before selecting vendors.

AUSTRALIA, March 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — As organizations increase investment in artificial intelligence and automation, selecting the right document automation platform has become a critical decision for enterprise technology and operations teams.

However, many organizations discover that the solutions they choose after vendor demonstrations do not always perform as expected in real production environments.

To help enterprise teams better understand how to evaluate these technologies, industry experts are hosting a live online session titled:

    – Why document automation demos often look flawless but struggle in production environments
    – The most common mistakes enterprises make when evaluating automation vendors
    – How organizations test automation tools before deployment
    – Practical frameworks used by enterprise teams to compare document automation platforms
