  • SMX Builds The Digital Backbone For Verified Materials With Blockchain-Enabled Traceability

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESS Newswire / March 20, 2026 / SMX (Security Matters) PLC (NASDAQ:SMX) is advancing a new digital infrastructure for global commerce, combining its molecular marking technology with blockchain-based systems to create a secure, verifiable, and interoperable record of physical materials across their entire lifecycle.

As global supply chains become more complex and data-driven, the gap between physical goods and digital systems has become increasingly problematic. Traditional tracking methods rely on fragmented databases, manual inputs, and documents that can be altered, lost, or disconnected from the materials they represent.

SMX closes that gap-by linking the physical and digital worlds at the material level.

Through its proprietary technology, SMX embeds a unique, invisible signature into materials such as plastics, textiles, metals, fuels, and chemicals. That signature is then connected to a secure digital record stored on blockchain infrastructure, creating a permanent and tamper-resistant link between the physical material and its digital identity.

This transforms how materials are tracked, verified, and traded.

Every transaction, movement, and transformation of a material can be recorded as a secure, time-stamped event-creating a transparent and auditable history that is accessible to authorized participants across the supply chain. From production and processing to distribution, reuse, and recycling, materials carry a continuous and trusted digital thread.

In this environment, data is no longer separate from the product-it becomes intrinsic to it.

SMX’s blockchain-enabled platform supports a wide range of applications across industries.

Manufacturers gain real-time visibility into inputs and outputs, ensuring that materials meet quality, origin, and compliance requirements. Brands can substantiate sustainability claims with verifiable data tied directly to the product. Regulators and auditors can access immutable records that streamline compliance and reporting processes.

For global trade, this introduces a new level of efficiency and trust.

Transactions can be executed with confidence, as counterparties rely on shared, verified data rather than fragmented documentation. Disputes are reduced, verification is accelerated, and the movement of goods becomes more transparent across borders.

SMX’s platform also enables the creation of digital tokens tied to physical materials-unlocking new forms of value and liquidity.

Materials can be represented digitally, allowing them to be tracked, traded, and managed with precision. This opens the door to more efficient secondary markets, improved inventory management, and innovative financial models based on verified assets.

At a time when circularity is becoming a global priority, SMX’s technology plays a critical role.

By maintaining a continuous digital identity for materials, even as they are reused or recycled, SMX ensures that value is preserved and enhanced over time. Materials do not lose their history-they accumulate it, becoming more transparent and more valuable with each lifecycle.

Security is central to the system.

Blockchain architecture ensures that data cannot be altered without consensus, while SMX’s molecular marking ensures that the physical material cannot be separated from its digital record. Together, they create a system where both the physical and digital components reinforce each other-delivering a level of integrity that neither could achieve alone.

As industries move toward more transparent, accountable, and efficient systems, the need for trusted data tied to real-world materials is becoming essential.

SMX is delivering that capability-building a digital backbone where materials are not just tracked, but verified, authenticated, and continuously connected to a secure digital ecosystem.

In this new model of global commerce, value is no longer defined solely by the material itself, but by the data that proves it.

SMX is making that proof permanent.

This is a milestone not just for Dexin, but for our entire district”
    — Dr. Emy Flores

WEST COVINA, CA, UNITED STATES, March 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Edgewood High School freshman Dexin Kong placed 5th in the nation at the prestigious Harvard National Speech and Debate Tournament. Kong’s impressive performance made history as the first student from the West Covina Unified School District (WCUSD) to reach the competition’s final round.

The tournament was held February 14–16 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and represents the largest, most competitive high school speech and debate event in the country. This year’s event included nearly 6,000 entries from 574 schools across 43 states and 15 countries. Kong advanced to the finals in Original Oratory, a category in which competitors deliver a self-written, memorized speech on a topic of their choosing.

WCUSD sent 18 students to the tournament, marking this year’s participation the district’s strongest performance at Harvard to date.

“This is a milestone not just for Dexin, but for our entire district,” said Superintendent Dr. Emy Flores. “To see a freshman rise to this level on a national stage speaks to her talent, discipline, and the strength of our growing Speech and Debate program.”

The achievement is particularly significant given that WCUSD’s Speech and Debate program is only four years old. Kong’s top-five national finish signals a new era for the district’s competitive academic programs, demonstrating that its students can not only compete but truly excel at the highest levels nationwide.

  • Fenceline Monitoring Systems Provide Continuous Measurement of Air Quality Around Industrial Facilities

Fenceline monitoring systems collect environmental data at the boundaries of industrial facilities, allowing air conditions to be measured where operational areas meet surrounding communities”
    — Joel Chaky

NEW ORLEANS, LA, UNITED STATES, March 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Air quality monitoring has become an important component of environmental management around industrial facilities. One approach commonly used to observe air conditions near facility boundaries is fenceline monitoring. These systems measure airborne compounds and environmental conditions along the perimeter of industrial sites, providing data about air quality in areas where industrial operations meet surrounding communities.

Fenceline monitoring refers to the placement of air monitoring equipment along the boundary lines of industrial facilities. Sensors and sampling devices positioned at these locations measure concentrations of certain airborne compounds that may be present in the surrounding atmosphere. These measurements allow operators, regulators, and environmental professionals to observe air conditions in areas adjacent to operational activities.

Industrial facilities can produce a range of airborne emissions depending on the type of processes taking place within the site. Chemical manufacturing, refining, and other industrial operations may release trace levels of gases or particulate matter as part of normal processes. Monitoring systems help track these emissions and provide information about how airborne substances disperse in the surrounding environment.

Monitoring equipment used in fenceline systems typically measures compounds such as volatile organic compounds, sulfur-containing gases, or other industrial emissions depending on the facility’s operations. These measurements are collected continuously or at scheduled intervals, allowing environmental specialists to track conditions over time.

Data collected through fenceline monitoring systems is often transmitted electronically to monitoring platforms where environmental professionals review readings and identify patterns. This continuous data collection helps detect fluctuations in air conditions and allows operators to evaluate how environmental factors influence air dispersion.

Weather conditions can significantly influence air movement around industrial sites. Wind speed, wind direction, temperature, and atmospheric pressure all affect how airborne compounds travel through the surrounding area. Fenceline monitoring equipment often includes meteorological sensors that record these environmental conditions alongside air quality measurements.

Combining air quality data with meteorological observations allows analysts to understand how environmental conditions affect the movement of airborne substances. For example, wind direction data can help determine how emissions disperse across different areas surrounding a facility.

Many monitoring systems also include analytical instruments designed to detect trace amounts of specific compounds. These instruments may use technologies such as optical absorption spectroscopy, gas chromatography, or electrochemical sensing depending on the substances being monitored. Each technique provides different levels of sensitivity and response time depending on monitoring requirements.

Continuous monitoring systems are often designed to record data in real time. This capability allows facility operators and environmental professionals to observe conditions as they occur rather than relying solely on periodic sampling. Real-time data can help identify changes in air conditions and provide information about operational or environmental influences.

According to Joel Chaky, Vice President of ENCOS Environmental & Coastal Services headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, fenceline monitoring systems provide an important method for observing environmental conditions near industrial sites.

“Fenceline monitoring systems collect environmental data at the boundaries of industrial facilities, allowing air conditions to be measured where operational areas meet surrounding communities,” said Chaky. “Monitoring equipment records concentrations of airborne compounds along with meteorological conditions that influence how emissions disperse.”

Chaky noted that continuous monitoring allows environmental professionals to review patterns in air quality measurements over time.

“Data collected through these systems provides information about how environmental conditions and facility operations interact,” Chaky said. “Observing these patterns helps environmental teams understand how air moves around facility boundaries.”

Regulatory agencies may require fenceline monitoring programs in certain industrial sectors. Environmental regulations often establish guidelines for monitoring specific compounds associated with particular industrial processes. Monitoring programs allow facilities to document environmental conditions and demonstrate compliance with applicable standards.

In some cases, monitoring results are made available through public reporting systems. Data transparency allows community members and environmental organizations to review air monitoring results collected around industrial facilities.

Monitoring technology continues evolving as environmental measurement techniques improve. New sensor systems allow more sensitive detection of airborne compounds while improving data transmission and reporting capabilities. These advancements provide additional tools for observing environmental conditions in areas where industrial activities and surrounding communities intersect.

Fenceline monitoring also contributes to broader environmental management programs. Data collected through monitoring systems may support air quality modeling studies that analyze how emissions disperse across larger geographic areas. These studies help environmental professionals evaluate potential impacts under varying weather conditions and operational scenarios.

Industrial facilities often integrate monitoring systems into environmental management strategies designed to maintain safe operational conditions. By observing air quality at facility boundaries, environmental teams gain information that can assist in evaluating emission controls and operational practices.

As industrial operations continue interacting with surrounding environments, monitoring technologies remain a central component of environmental observation. Fenceline monitoring systems provide ongoing measurements of air conditions in areas where facility operations meet nearby communities.

Through continuous measurement, environmental professionals gain insight into how airborne compounds move through surrounding environments and how atmospheric conditions influence that movement. These observations contribute to the broader understanding of environmental conditions associated with industrial activity.

  • Australian Dog Trainer Redefines Luxury Pet Gear With Old-World Craft

Melbourne’s PK9 Gear proves premium dog accessories don’t need a factory — just a craftsman who refuses to cut corners.

Most pet gear is designed to be replaced. I wanted something I could trust — and something worth passing down.”
    — Chris Loverseed, Founder, PK9 Gear

MELBOURNE, VIC, AUSTRALIA, March 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — In a pet accessories market flooded with mass-produced gear, Melbourne-based PK9 Gear is making the case that true luxury is about how something is made, not how it is marketed.

Founded by professional dog trainer Chris Loverseed, PK9 Gear handcrafts leather dog collars, leads, harnesses, and toys from his Melbourne workshop. Every piece uses premium leather and solid brass hardware, built to last a lifetime rather than a season. There are no factories, no shortcuts, and no compromise on materials.

The brand sits at an unusual intersection: serious working-dog functionality meets the kind of quality you’d expect from a high-end leather goods maker. Loverseed spent years working as a professional dog trainer before frustration with the available gear pushed him to start making his own. What began as a practical solution has become a brand that’s caught the attention of some of Australia’s most discerning buyers.

“Most pet gear is designed to be replaced,” said Loverseed. “I started making my own because, as a trainer, I was putting gear on dogs every day and watching it fail. I wanted something I could trust — and something worth passing down.”

That philosophy has attracted attention at the top end of the hospitality market. PK9 Gear’s handcrafted range is stocked exclusively at Park Hyatt Melbourne, one of Australia’s most prestigious five-star hotels, where guests can purchase pieces directly. Loverseed was also recently commissioned to create a custom collar and lead for Pixel, the resident dog at Hyatt Hotel Canberra — a bespoke commission that speaks to the brand’s reputation for quality and craft.

The Hyatt partnerships reflect a broader cultural shift in how luxury is being defined. Consumers — particularly in the premium end of the market — are moving away from logo-driven status and towards provenance, craft, and the story behind an object. A handmade leather collar from a Melbourne craftsman carries a different kind of weight than anything produced at scale.

PK9 Gear’s products are designed with working dogs in mind — proper fit, durable hardware, materials that soften and improve with age rather than deteriorating. But they’re equally at home on a well-loved family dog in a city apartment. The brand’s customer base reflects that range: from working dog handlers and trainers to hotel guests and design-conscious pet owners who want something that lasts.

Loverseed sees the brand as part of a wider movement back towards considered, quality-first purchasing. “People are tired of buying the same thing twice,” he says. “They want to know who made it, how it was made, and whether it will still be around in ten years. That’s what we offer.”

PK9 Gear was recently featured in Kanebridge News: https://kanebridgenews.com/inside-the-craft-led-luxury-dog-brand-changing-pet-style/

    About PK9 Gear:
PK9 Gear produces high-end, handcrafted leather dog collars, leads, harnesses, and toys. All products are made in Australia from premium leather and solid brass hardware. The brand’s philosophy centres on durability, function, and the “buy once, buy well” ethos — a sustainable alternative to the disposable pet accessories market.

If we really want to significantly reduce long-term homelessness, then we need to bring together quality outreach and support services with affordable housing options for the most vulnerable among us.”
    — Jay S. Levy

ANN ARBOR, MI, MI, UNITED STATES, March 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Thirteen years ago, “Pretreatment Guide for Homeless Outreach & Housing First” (Loving Healing Press, 2013) by Jay Levy was published as an educational resource for learning and reflection on how to address the vexing problems of homelessness, trauma, and loss. The latest edition of the book, released this month, remains loyal to the same spirit and purpose.

In addition to an improved format and layout, the new edition of Levy’s book also comes with a new Preface by the author and a new Introduction by Robin Johnson, Leader of the Psychologically Informed Environments movement. Individual chapters have been updated with new insights on creating a positive work culture and instituting Reflective Practice: Transforming Supervision to Co-vision. The expanded appendix of the new edition includes Levy’s 2025 interview by Australian author, blogger, and psychologist Dr. Bob Rich.

Levy puts a trusting relationship and an effective communication that becomes goal-centered at the core of pretreatment. These person-centered endeavors benefit significantly from the worker’s unwavering sense of optimism. The updated version of “Pretreatment Guide for Homeless Outreach & Housing First” explores four keys to pretreatment:
    1. To get where the client is at;
    2. Interventions are informed by how our words and actions resonate in the client’s world;
    3. A trusting relationship between worker and client is foundational, while common language construction is our main tool toward facilitating positive change;
    4. The onus is on the worker to remain optimistic and instill a sense of hope

“If we really want to significantly reduce long-term homelessness,” reminds Jay Levy, “then we need to bring together quality outreach and support services with affordable housing options so the most vulnerable among us can achieve a sense of community, dignity and meaning, while safely living in their homes.”

  • Local, state officials welcome Asher’s Sandbox to Plympton as business celebrates with ribbon-cutting

Unique new business and play space catering to children and their parents offers supportive environment

We are pleased by the warm reception we have received since opening our doors, and we look forward to being part of this community for years to come.”
    — Dr. Amber Bartlett, owner, Asher’s Sandbox

PLYMPTON, MA, UNITED STATES, March 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Asher’s Sandbox, a new and fun recreational space for children and parents, received a warm welcome from state and local officials, and representatives of the business community, as the new business recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its location on 286 Main Street.

State Representative Kathy LaNatra (D-Kingston), whose district includes the Town of Plympton, was on hand to congratulate owner Dr. Amber Bartlett and her team on the new venture. “It’s exciting to see this new business for kids and their parents come to town,” she said, and presented Dr. Bartlett with a proclamation of congratulations from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

She was joined by Plympton Selectman Nate Sides and Dana Smith, both of whom also welcomed the new business to the community.

Local business owners and friends also turned out to officially congratulate Asher’s Sandbox. The business opened its doors a few weeks ago and is quickly becoming known as a place for parents who are seeking fun activities for their children and a venue where they can share experiences with other parents.

“We are all so grateful for your support,” said Dr. Bartlett, who welcomed the crowd to the ribbon cutting. “We are so pleased by the warm reception we have received since opening our doors, and we look forward to being a part of the community for years to come.”

Named for Amber’s four-year-old son Asher, Asher’s Sandbox offers a clean, fun, large, indoor sandbox for kids to dig, build and play. Additionally. the 2800 square foot location offers:
    • Open play sessions
    • Mommy & me classes
    • Sand yoga
    • Sand meditation
    • Birthday parties
    • Special events

Dr. Bartlett is also the owner of two other Plympton businesses: The Barker House, a grooming and daycare facility for dogs, and her business psychology practice.

She credits the idea for the new business to her son Asher, who had seen an indoor sandbox on TV and said to her, “Mommy, you’re supposed to take me here.”

“That moment stuck with me,” she recalls. “This one felt like it was meant to be. And when I found the perfect space for lease, I knew it was the right time.”

She said, “Asher’s Sandbox is more than merely a playspace. It is the community spot that we all need. It is a place for local classes, events, parties, and play; a place where our kids can explore tactile play in a clean, safe, organized environment and make new friends. And it is a place where we, the parents, the caregivers, the tired humans keeping tiny humans alive – can build real relationships with people who understand the joys and struggles.”

  • FLEOA Executive Director Michael Hughes Represented FLEOA at IACP annual Officer Safety and Wellness Conference

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, March 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The 2026 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Officer Safety and Wellness (OSW) Conference was held March 6-8 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) was represented by Executive Director Michael Hughes, who met with law enforcement professionals from across the country to discuss strategies and share resources focused on improving officer safety, wellness, and competence.

Hosted annually by the IACP, the Officer Safety and Wellness Conference brings together law enforcement leaders, practitioners, and subject matter experts to discuss comprehensive approaches to protecting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of officers so that they can do their jobs better without sacrificing their bodies or minds to the challenges of the job.

FLEOA National President, Mathew Silverman shares his thoughts on how important this conference is for officers, and how “over the course of a career, many law enforcement officers experience the cumulative effects of post-traumatic stress due to the difficult and often traumatic situations they face. The IACP Officer Safety and Wellness Conference, along with other agency and association resources, provides critical education and training that help officers and agencies better understand these challenges and support the health and resilience of those who serve.”

The 2026 conference featured more than 70 educational sessions covering evidence-based practices, case studies, and emerging techniques designed to help agencies strengthen safety and wellness initiatives within their departments.

Conference sessions addressed a wide range of mission-critical topics, including officer resilience, financial wellness, injury prevention, peer support, physical fitness, nutrition, healthy sleep, stress management, mindfulness, and suicide prevention. The event provided attendees with practical tools and best practices to help agencies develop effective programs that support officers both on- and off-duty.

Reflecting on the success of the conference, Hughes had this to say:

“Officer safety and wellness are fundamental to the strength and effectiveness of our profession. When we invest in the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our officers, we strengthen not only the individuals who serve, but also the communities they protect. I want to thank the International Association of Chiefs of Police for hosting such an important conference and for bringing together experts and practitioners to share best practices that help keep our officers safe, resilient, and mission-ready.”

FLEOA remains committed to supporting policies, programs, and initiatives that prioritize officer wellness in all its forms. Our participation in events such as the IACP Officer Safety and Wellness Conference is part of our ongoing mission to help officers across the nation stay at the top of their game while remaining connected both to their brothers and sisters within the law enforcement field as well as to the communities they serve.

    ###

FLEOA serves more than 34,000 registered members in the federal law enforcement community, who serve across more than 65 agencies. The organization does not endorse political parties or candidates but serves as a voice of advocacy for federal law enforcement through the legislative process.
