    Several of the songs on Smoke & began in an unlikely place: long technology consulting calls. The members behind MIЯROЯMOЯE work primarily as programmers and technical consultants, and many early lyric ideas were typed into notebooks or text files while waiting for meetings to end.

    What started as small fragments of writing slowly accumulated into songs.

    “A lot of these lyrics started as something to do during long conference calls. Eventually we realized we had a whole album hiding in the margins.”

    In early summer 2025, the group decided to begin recording those ideas. The result is “Smoke &,” a reflective album exploring memory, fading friendships, love that almost worked, and the quiet realization that time continues moving forward whether people are ready or not.

    MIЯROЯMOЯE is built around songwriting, placing the music and its stories at the heart of the project.

    The album reflects the emotional landscape of modern life — where constant connectivity exists alongside a growing sense of distance. At the same time, the songs carry warmth, nostalgia, and subtle humor that often appears when people look back at their lives.

    The project remains intentionally low-profile. The creators describe themselves simply as a family group from Atlanta that spends most of its time writing software and consulting on technology projects while quietly writing lyrics between meetings. Several members also live with social anxiety, making the decision to release the music publicly an unusual step.

    Still, the songs continued to grow until the project felt worth sharing.

    What began as lyrics written during conference calls eventually became “Smoke &.”

    Previously artist-in-residence at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, El Mehdi has presented his work at TIFF, the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica ShortFilm Festival, and Amsterdam Dance Event, and has performed to capacity crowds across Canada (Nuit Blanche, Canadian Music Week, Montreal Pride).

    In 2025, he made his big-screen debut as a leading actor in “L’Héritier des secrets” (dir. Mohamed Nadif), which premiered at theMontreal Museum of Fine Arts as part of Cinémania. Set for theatrical release in 2026, the film is the first Moroccan feature to address trans identity and co-stars Nisrin Erradi, who also appears in “Everybody Loves Touda” (dir. Nabil Ayouch), Morocco’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
