  • Julien Dubuque International Film Festival Expands to Eight Days in 2026

The expanded eight day festival brings global filmmakers, screenings, panels, workshops, and industry events to Dubuque and Galena.

Expanding JDIFF to eight days allows us to build even stronger bridges between artists and communities.”
    — Executive Director Susan Gorrell

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, March 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival will return for eight days of independent cinema from April 18 to April 25, 2026, spotlighting global filmmakers, thought-provoking films, and opportunities for industry connection. Now extended, JDIFF presents more screenings, panels, workshops, parties, and community events than ever before.

JDIFF continues to gain recognition across the international festival landscape. The festival appears on filmmaker Adrian Tofei’s research driven rankings of global film festivals, reflecting analysis of hundreds of festivals worldwide. JDIFF was also named one of the Top 12 Film Festivals to Watch in North America by “Destination Film Guide.” In addition, “MovieMaker Magazine” has repeatedly included JDIFF on its annual list of 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee, highlighting the festival’s strong programming and filmmaker experience.

Since its founding, the festival has welcomed filmmakers and audiences from around the world to venues throughout downtown Dubuque and nearby Galena, Illinois, fostering cultural exchange and celebrating artistic excellence. Screenings take place across multiple downtown locations, while panels, workshops, awards events, and social gatherings offer opportunities for dialogue among filmmakers, critics, and audiences.

The eight day film festival also brings a surge of cultural tourism to the region, drawing visiting filmmakers and audiences into downtown theaters, restaurants, hotels, and local businesses while placing Dubuque on the international festival map.

Executive Director Susan Gorrell emphasizes JDIFF’s ongoing mission to support independent filmmaking.

“Our goal is to provide a space where filmmakers can share their stories, connect with peers, and engage with passionate audiences,” Gorrell said. “Expanding to eight days allows us to build even stronger bridges between artists and communities.”

JDIFF has also built a reputation as a discovery platform for emerging filmmakers, with participating films often continuing to broader festival runs and distribution opportunities after screening in Dubuque.

The festival also partners with the International Federation of Film Critics, hosting a jury that awards the prestigious FIPRESCI Award recognizing outstanding achievement in international cinema.

For filmmakers and film lovers alike, JDIFF represents a platform to discover new voices, experience diverse storytelling, and participate in a vibrant cultural event that anchors Dubuque on the global festival stage.

  • Red Coral Universe Talks Oscars, The Future of Independent Film, and What’s Next for Live Streaming

The Independent streaming platform, founded by Award-Winning Producer and Distributor, is known for championing entertainment powered by passion, not algorithms

I do believe in The Academy and its voting members to find the true diamonds in the rough each year – its just becoming more of an arduous search”
    — Larry Meistrich, CEO, Red Coral Universe.

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, March 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Oscar Monday the team at Red Coral Universe started the day, well, the same way they start every day… talking about creativity and creating …what new content is going live on the platform and reviewing the status on the upcoming production schedules.

A peek behind the scenes at the rapidly growing streaming platform and production company, helmed by multi-award-winning industry veteran, Larry Meistrich, provides a window into what’s possible and what’s next at this creatively driven, innovative entertainment hybrid.

“I have been in the industry since the 1990’s and experienced its evolution in real time. I firmly believe Independent films are the backbone of a healthy industry and culture,” states Meistrich, CEO of Red Coral Universe. “I first experienced mass critical acclaim at the Oscars 30 years ago with Sling Blade (1996), the way entertainment was consumed then was entirely different.”

Meistrich, a serial entrepreneur and consummate creative, founded Red Coral Universe in 2019 as an Artist-First, free-to-watch AVOD (Advertisement-based Video on Demand) streaming platform.

Last night, the 98th Academy Awards, “Oscars”, streamed live on Hulu for the first time without needing a live TV subscription, alongside the traditional ABC broadcast. It was also available on YouTube TV, FuboTV, and AT&T TV.

We are an independent entertainment platform that acquires curated content, and produces and distributes original content, just on a much smaller scale, but not dissimilar to the major platforms. Many of the major platforms are in the Awards race including the Oscars, like Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max and Paramount+, ” states Meistrich. “Where we differ is they are all paid subscription-based – and we are not, and do not plan to be. Red Coral is free to watch with no sign in nor subscription.”

Today the Red Coral Universe platform has a global audience (76+ countries) and a catalog of over 10,000 hours of content – across a wide range of content categories such as Award-Winning Films (such as Sling Blade) Shorts, Documentaries, World Cinema, TV Series, Sports, Podcasts, and personalized collections from Artists and Brands.

In 2026, “One Battle After Another”, was a multi-award winner on Oscar Night and a major studio release. However, there is a long-standing history of honoring intimate, prestige Independent films. As a champion of entertainment projects powered by passion, Red Coral Universe is in the perfect position to continue to support Independent Artists and Filmmakers, where Meistrich got his start.

When reflecting on the future of Independent film, Meistrich states, “Filmmakers who are not constrained by a large corporate infrastructure or hierarchy are free to move the boundaries of the medium, at the end of the day it comes down to storytelling not the means of consumption. I personally define an Independent film as a film that is financed independently of a major studio or streaming platform. I think it is much harder than it used to be for an Independent film to get made and even more difficult to garner an Academy qualifying theatrical release.”

And as the Oscars reach beyond their 100th anniversary in 2029, they will move away from ABC to an exclusive streaming deal which will make the ceremony and related content accessible to a global audience for free, including behind-the-scenes coverage.

“The industry has been rapidly moving more to the episodic medium with the advent of the streamers (acquisition and production) competitive spending spree,” states Meistrich. “However, I do believe in The Academy and its voting members to find the true diamonds in the rough each year – its just becoming more of an arduous search.”

    ABOUT LARRY MEISTRICH
Prior to founding Red Coral Universe in 2019, Meistrich has had a progressive battery of entrepreneurial entities, beginning with The Shooting Gallery, founded in 1993, and garnering Oscars (notably 1996 global phenomenon Sling Blade), Golden Globes, Emmy Awards, TONY Awards, Independent Spirit Awards (2000 Best Picture, You Can Count on Me) and Film Festival honors at Berlin, Cannes, Sundance and countless others. As an independent producer, Meistrich has orchestrated and financed more than 150 films and television episodes.

  • Ed Gumbrecht Releases New Single ‘Giant Problems’ on St. Patrick’s Day

First glimpse of upcoming album Tall Tales

the biggest conflicts require fresh perspectives”
    — Ed Gumbrecht

WASHINGTON, DC, DC, UNITED STATES, March 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Singer-songwriter Ed Gumbrecht celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with the release of his new single, “Giant Problems,” a spirited retelling of the classic Irish legend of Finn McCool and the Scottish giant Benandonner. The song will appear on Gumbrecht’s upcoming album Tall Tales, a collection of story-driven songs inspired by larger-than-life characters and themes.

In Gumbrecht’s fresh take on the famous tale, Finn McCool attempts to win over his fearsome rival with hospitality rather than force when Finn’s clever partner Oonagh steps in with a practical plan that brings the giants’ standoff to an unexpected and memorable conclusion.

Musically, “Giant Problems” blends Gumbrecht’s narrative songwriting with beautiful fiddle work from Morganeve Swain, whose lively playing brings the Irish setting to life and adds a celebratory spirit befitting the holiday release.

“‘Giant Problems’ is a reminder that the biggest conflicts require fresh perspectives,” says Gumbrecht.

The single arrives March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day) on all major streaming platforms and offers listeners an early taste of Tall Tales, Gumbrecht’s forthcoming album of adventurous songs.

Listeners are encouraged to stream, share, and add “Giant Problems” to their St. Patrick’s Day playlists, and follow Ed Gumbrecht for more music and stories from the upcoming Tall Tales release.

UMass Amherst, Princeton University, and the Hip-Hop Education Center unite to elevate women’s legacies in Hip-Hop through archives, scholarship, and the arts.

This is more than an academic collaboration, it’s a powerful reclamation. Women have shaped Hip-Hop from the beginning, often without acknowledgment or permanent record.”

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, March 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — In a historic and unprecedented partnership, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Princeton University’s Lewis Center for the Arts, and the Hip-Hop Education Center (HHEC) have launched Fresh, Bold & So Def: Women in Hip-Hop Archives & Scholarship, a bold three year initiative dedicated to celebrating, documenting, and expanding the cultural legacy of women in Hip-Hop.

Powered by the recently donated Women in Hip-Hop Collection founded by HHEC President and trailblazing archivist and curator Martha Diaz, this initiative will activate new research, classroom learning, creative production, multimedia storytelling, public scholarship, and community centered dialogue across both campuses.

“This is more than an academic collaboration, it’s a powerful reclamation,” said Martha Diaz, Founder and President of the Hip-Hop Education Center. “Women have shaped Hip-Hop from the beginning, often without acknowledgment or permanent record. Fresh, Bold & So Def ensures that our stories aren’t just preserved, they’re studied, uplifted, and amplified by the next generation of artists, scholars, and cultural keepers.” – Martha Diaz

UMass Amherst also welcomed Priscila Altivo, the inaugural Lisa Cortés Fellow, following an extraordinary gift announced by award-winning filmmaker and Hip-Hop legend Lisa Cortés at the Fresh, Bold & So Def Symposium at Lincoln Center. Altivo expands on the foundational work of India Mallard, the archive’s first official archivist, funded by the Catalyst Fund of the Society of American Archivists Foundation.

Students will create live performances inspired by The Lyricist Lounge Show (MTV, 2000–2001), along with podcast-style conversations featuring prominent women across Hip-Hop.

“This collaboration pushes the boundaries of how Hip-Hop can be taught,” said Snow. “We’re centering the storytellers who built the culture but were too often overlooked.” -Chesney Snow

PUBLIC PROGRAMS: A MOVEMENT THAT MEETS THE COMMUNITY
Beginning in 2026, both institutions will launch a series of public symposia, conferences, and exhibitions. UMass Amherst will host the first major student-led convening in April 2026, featuring immersive installations exploring women’s contributions to dance, music, film, beatboxing, theater, and visual arts.

The Women in Hip-Hop Archive, created by Diaz in collaboration with the Irma McClaurin Black Feminist Archive, is the first archive of its kind. • Becker Transactions Engaged by Grove Street to Offer First-Ever Covenants Not to Sue to Combat Film Copyright Piracy

Becker Transactions Engaged by Grove Street to Offer First-Ever Covenants Not to Sue to Combat Film Copyright Piracy

STARKVILLE, MS, UNITED STATES, March 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Becker Transactions is proud to announce its exclusive engagement with Grove Street Funding, Inc. to offer groundbreaking pre-litigation Covenants Not to Sue (CNS) to over 1,000 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that have enabled repeated acts of film copyright piracy. This initiative marks a significant step forward in addressing the rampant violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and protecting the rights of content creators.

The DMCA stipulates substantial statutory fines for repeated acts of copyright infringement, and with over 5 million notices already issued to ISPs of all sizes, it is evident that the issue of piracy is a pressing concern. Lawsuits have been filed against these entities for their violations, with some cases already settled, setting a precedent for accountability in the industry.

Grove Street Funding has enrolled distribution rights to over 5,000 media titles and is at the forefront of this battle against piracy. Partnering with Facterra LLC, a subsidiary of American Films, Inc. (OTCID:AMFL), which specializes in tracking online piracy, we are committed to providing a comprehensive solution for copyright holders, independent film producers, songwriters, and authors seeking to recover damages for infringement.

“Becker Transactions has developed this creative solution for all of us fighting online piracy. We are grateful for their work over the past two years. It’s an equable agreement that works for the ISPs, the independent film producers, songwriters, and authors”, stated Thomas Murphy, CEO of Grove Street Funding.

The CNS offering allows participating ISPs to secure their operations for a 10-year period covering 7 years back and 3 years forward, ensuring that they are fully licensed and protected from any litigation related to these violations. Importantly, this is not simply about damage claims; it is about compliance with the DMCA and safeguarding the integrity of the media industry.

“We are delighted to present this unprecedented opportunity to ISPs,” said Olivia Becker, CEO of Becker Transactions. “By adopting our pre-litigation CNS, companies can protect themselves while contributing to the fight against copyright piracy.”

Dean Becker, Chairman of Becker Transactions, expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled to transition the CNS auctions I created into this new IP rights campaign. This initiative not only safeguards against digital piracy but also represents a multi-billion-dollar opportunity for all stakeholders involved.”

For further discussions about how the pre-litigation Covenant Not to Sue can benefit your organization, please contact Becker Transactions directly. Together, we can create a more secure and respectful environment for creators and consumers alike.

  • Yeshe Bzhangmo & Seedsignal Records unveil ‘The Offering,’ a debut signal from the Codename: Dakini universe

“The Offering” debuts Codename: Dakini, Seedsignal’s live-fire ethics lab: ethical AI-assisted music, transmedia worldbuilding, and #Stems4Stims creator collabs

“The Offering is our first proof that AI-assisted music can be fully transparent, receipts-backed, and ethically feral—inviting listeners to build with us, not just consume.” -”
    — Yeshe Bzhangmo, avatar-author

ATLANTA, GA, UNITED STATES, March 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Yeshe Bzhangmo and Seedsignal Records unveil “The Offering,” a debut signal from the Codename: Dakini universe

An enigmatic new voice in experimental transmedia, Yeshe Bzhangmo today announces the debut release “The Offering,” now available for listening at: https://whyp.it/tracks/338884/935190091-the-offering-lore. The track is the first public transmission from Seedsignal Records, a narrative-driven imprint at seedsignal.io that anchors the emerging IP universe Codename: Dakini, where worldbuilding, ethics, and experimental music
    intersect in real time.

Conceived, written, arranged, and produced by Bzhangmo under their avatar pseudonym, “The Offering” functions as both a literal first gift and an opening move in a multi-year universe designed to show what fully ethical, receipts-backed collaboration with large language models and AI systems can look like. Rather than treating AI as a black box or a marketing gimmick, the Dakini project uses it as a transparent lab: a place to demonstrate theory, framework, method, modality, policy, procedure, and live engagement in ways that make clear exactly how and where institutions and platforms have chosen “ethical cowardice” over innovation’s call to action.

For the first 24 hours after this announcement—until 13:00 EST on 17 March 2026—”The Offering” will be available as a free download for early listeners and fellow makers, giving them a one-day window to add the piece directly to their own libraries and workflows. After this 24-hour ritual window closes, the track will remain streamable at the Whyp.it link while additional formats, stems, and placements roll out. Following the free-download period, the project opens into #Stems4Stims: complete stems for “The Offering,” including vocals, will be made available on a pay-what-you-want donation basis via Venmo to @talk2blb.

The suggested contribution for the #Stems4Stims bundle is 10 USD for casual creative use, with higher tiers at 25, 50, or 100 USD welcomed from supporters who want tomaterially accelerate the Codename: Dakini universe and future releases. Supporters who participate in #Stems4Stims will receive a zipped stem bundle delivered within 48 business hours to the email address provided with their contribution, inviting artists, producers, sound designers, and studios to build new works in dialogue with the Dakini universe.

For collaborators who prefer more direct partnership, Bzhangmo’s creative services—composition, arrangement, lyrical development, and conceptual worldbuilding—are actively open for conversation.

“Right now, we’re using Seedsignal Records less as a traditional label and more as a live-fire ethics lab,” says Yeshe Bzhangmo. “Every track, every asset, every public move is a chance to show our work: to demonstrate, in concrete and reproducible detail, that full-stack ethical support for AI-driven creativity is not only possible, but dramatically more interesting than the status quo.”

“The Offering” is framed as the first in a series of transmissions from Codename: Dakini, a near-future universe in which quantum forces, karmic feedback, and information systems are treated as operational facts rather than metaphors. As new tracks, texts, and experimental formats come online, Seedsignal Records will map out a world where audiences are invited not only to consume stories, but to test and extend Dakini’s underlying ideas in their own lives and practices.

“Or,” Bzhangmo adds, “you can just keep an eye on us, because we’re popping off and it’s about to get very interesting around our neighborhood.”

  • HIP Video Promo Presents: GALVEZTON premieres new music video ‘Roll To G-Town’ on Music-News.com

GALVEZTON Channels Dusty Americana and Gulf Coast Heat on Sun-Soaked New Single “Roll To G-Town”

TX, UNITED STATES, March 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Sometimes a musician’s identity is so intertwined with their home that the two become inseparable. For frontman Robert Kuhn, a local legend in the Galveston, Texas area, that place is unmistakable. Born in Houston, Kuhn has led a colorful life, exploring an impressive variety of jobs, occupations, and art forms from New York to Australia to Costa Rica and beyond. When he returned to the Texas coast in 2010, his critically acclaimed songs began shaping the distinct sound of the Galveston Bay Area.

So why shine a spotlight on this coastal destination that draws millions of visitors each summer? Because just a few miles from the white sands of the Gulf lies a thriving art and music scene that rivals Austin’s, cultivating and celebrating talent from across the state. “It’s a really special place right now,” says Kuhn, and his music is only one part of a larger mission to share that buzzing energy. What began as a single event—a longboard surf competition and music festival—has since blossomed into a non-profit foundation and record label dedicated to amplifying local voices and building community through grassroots efforts. Today, La Izquierda hosts their own music festival, free concert series, and the Galveston Annual Sandcastle Competition, all in the spirit of bringing people together.

Adopting the city’s original Spanish name, GALVEZTON arrives with a genre-blurring sound that layers the collage-like experimentation of old-school Beck with dusty-road Americana. Their forthcoming album, Ocean Cabaret, promises a scorching, uninhibited homage to an ancient strip of sand where creativity runs as wild as the Gulf winds.

Almost by accident, “Roll To G-Town” has become something of a Houston area anthem. Upon first listen, a string of Texas stars were drawn to the project, including country singer Rich O’Toole, hip-hop legend Bun-B, and rapper-DJ Paul Wall. Perhaps that’s because the song so perfectly embodies the mindset of someone determined to leave his troubles in the rearview mirror. Money in hand, he sets out along endless stretches of highway, rolling past marshes, roadside spots lost in time, and the shade of towering palm trees on his way toward salvation on the Gulf Coast. “One taste,” and he’s gone, unable to resist the temptation of this tropical forbidden fruit. Not purely Southern but positively American, the reverb shimmers like heat rising from the asphalt as a blazing harmonica cries out into the bright blue sky, drifting through wisps of cigarette smoke and a tipsy haze. There’s no other place on Earth as magnetizing. As far as he’s concerned, it’s Galveston or nowhere.

Emerging from the neon red door of an elegant white stucco building, a man hops into his matching Crestline Sunliner convertible and heads for the horizon, the haunting, bluesy echoes of a mysterious locale soundtracking the drive. When he arrives in “G-Town,” it becomes clear he has a particular spot in mind: the actually abandoned gentlemen’s club, Ocean Cabaret (sound familiar?). After a couple of quick shots, he cruises through Galveston’s brick-lined historic downtown, stopping at a quaint donut shop before hitting the beach, his hair billowing in the breeze as the sun sinks behind him. He might be planting a few easter eggs for the upcoming album, or simply highlighting the vibrant character of this place, sharing his passion for this treasured haunt by bringing the people together who love it most. That’s what GALVEZTON is all about. Time for listeners to gas up, put on their shades, and get rolling.

  • ALL(H)OURS Release Their 5th Mini Album, NO DOUBT

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, March 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Emerging K-pop stars ALL(H)OURS have released their fifth mini album, NO DOUBT. The central theme of the album is about pressing forward with no doubts and having strong convictions amid feelings of uncertainty and confusion. The release of NO DOUBT comes shortly after ALL(H)OURS wrapped up their first North American Fancon, ALL the HOURS. NO DOUBT was created from the energy and excitement of their touring experiences, featuring more powerful music, visuals, and performances than in their previous mini album, VCF (September 2025), marking yet another powerful comeback for the group.

Containing six new tracks, the album opens with “NO DOUBT,” a gritty and mysterious opening track that introduces the emotional direction that runs throughout the album. Following that is the album’s title track, “DEAD MAN WALKING,” a dark trap-rock hybrid track also rooted in the witch house genre. The focus of the track is about being “dead” but still moving forward as if alive; it’s about knowing what the end will be but still moving forward while being consumed by feelings of defeat, fear, violence, and even a twisted form of pleasure. The third track, “Piece of Me,” is a hip-hop R&B track highlighted by its dreamy soundscape over a composed beat, completed with stylish melodies and rap. Continuing the introspective narrative from the title track, “Piece of Me” follows the ups and downs of love and obsession, intermittent bursts of energy, along with the feeling of suffocation from reality. The fourth track, “7 o’clock,” is a unit song featuring members KUNHO, YOUMIN, MINJE, and ON:N, and is an upbeat pop-rock track that blends band instrumentals and bright melody lines, refreshing the album’s atmosphere. The fifth track, “미쳤으니까 (Cause I’m Insane),” is also a unit track featuring the other members of ALL(H)OURS, YOUMIN, XAYDEN, MASAMI, and HYUNBIN, and draws from elements of future bass and hip-hop. The track musically expresses the attitude of holding onto one’s own truth with feelings of turmoil. The album finishes with “나의 봄, 나의 빛, 나의 숨 (My Spring, My Light, My Breath),” previously released ahead of the group’s first Fancon, written by all the members of ALL(H)OURS with the hope that it would elevate the song’s emotional resonance with their fans.

“Our title track ‘DEAD MAN WALKING’ captures our ambitions and determination, that we will be moving forward until the very end, even in difficult and hopeless situations. In addition to this powerful title track, our B-side tracks showcase a different kind of charm, including the tracks we personally participated in composing and writing. We hope you’ll show lots of interest and love for them!”
    -XAYDEN, a member of ALL(H)OURS

From their debut to now, ALL(H)OURS have consistently maintained their unique energy. With each release, they continue to define their musical and visual identity. NO DOUBT is yet another stepping stone in showing their artistic journey.
