  • Naomi Sharon Hits the Airwaves with her new Sizzling Summer Single MISS THAT

First Lady of OVO SOUNDS Artist Naomi Sharon is serving the new Summer Sizzle with Her Poppin Anthem MISS THAT and a new Album to be released in May

NEW YORK, CA, UNITED STATES, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — NAOMI SHARON UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “MISS THAT” FROM HER FORTHCOMING ALBUM

Edison POP Award-Nominated Artist Debuts New Song Following Exclusive NYFW Preview in Collaboration with Telfar

(New York, New York – February 26, 2026) OVO Sound’s Naomi Sharon is back with her newest single, “Miss That,” a propulsive, groove-driven record that moves with the cool confidence of an artist fully in command of her evolving sound.

Produced by Jordan Ullman of Majid Jordan and written by Sharon and collaborator Blush, “Miss That” is an R&B record infused with the pulse of dancehall, club music, and EDM, anchored by Sharon’s rich, deep alto and a hypnotic refrain that demands repeat listens and a dance floor to match. “Miss That” also samples Chicago’s “If You Leave Me Now,” with composition credit to Peter Cetera.

True to form, Sharon debuted the track during New York Fashion Week at the Telfar store in SoHo- a fitting stage for one of music’s most fashion-forward voices. A moment as culturally charged as the music itself, the collaboration with the boundary-breaking designer felt like a natural meeting of two worlds defined by bold identity and uncompromising vision.

The single arrives ahead of Sharon’s performance at the 2026 Edison Awards in Amsterdam this March, one of the most prestigious music ceremonies in the world and a longtime European counterpart to the Grammys. Her EP The Only Love We Know is nominated for Best Soul/R&B/Funk Album/EP. “Miss That” is the lead single from her forthcoming album.

The single art, shot by the acclaimed photographer Hugo Comte, captures Sharon’s signature aesthetic: cool, precise, and undeniably striking.

“Miss That” is available now on all streaming platforms.

    ABOUT NAOMI SHARON
Rotterdam-born Naomi Sharon is part of a generation of European female artists breaking through to global audiences and redefining what contemporary progressive R&B sounds like on a world stage.

Sharon made history as the first female artist signed to Drake’s OVO Sound, and has built her reputation on an exacting blend of alternative R&B, neo-soul, and electronic influence rooted in her Dutch and Caribbean heritage. Her 2023 debut album Obsidian, which spawned the cult favorite “Time And Trust,” announced her arrival with force. Apple Music called her follow-up, the 2025 EP The Only Love We Know, a showcase of “arresting performances,” noting that standout single “Bittersweet” finds her voice echoing and booming with rich reverb, while the title track closes with stacked choral harmonies that soar. Both projects were executive produced by her labelmate Jordan Ullman of Majid Jordan.

In December 2025, Sharon released Naomi Sharon: Live from Paradiso, a live album recorded at Amsterdam’s legendary Paradiso venue and offered as a gift to her devoted fanbase, capturing the full breadth of her artistry in an intimate and historic setting.

A formidable live performer, Sharon has completed several successful European tours and in 2025 opened for Tems across the United States, cementing her standing as an artist ready for the largest stages in the world.

  • Nature as Stage: Countryside Harvest Festival 2026 Transforms Lai Chi Wo into an Open-Air Cultural Landmark

Tan Dun led an open-air opera and dance festival at Lai Chi Wo on 1 March, blending global artistry, rural heritage and nature in Hong Kong’s countryside.

HONG KONG, HONG KONG, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The historic Hakka village of Lai Chi Wo was transformed into an open-air performance venue on 1 March as the Countryside Conservation Office (CCO) presented the Countryside Harvest Festival 2026: “Hong Kong Soundscape – Opera & Dance” One-Day Music Festival at Yan Chau Tong, Mirs Bay.

Directed and conducted by internationally renowned composer Tan Dun — UNESCO Global Goodwill Ambassador and Hong Kong’s Ambassador for Cultural Promotion — the festival brought together musicians and dancers from Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas, including the New York Percussion Ensemble and the Hong Kong–Shenzhen–Macao Trio.

Framed by mountains and sea, the programme explored the relationship between sound, movement and landscape. The opening work, The Rite of Spring – Samsara, placed Stravinsky alongside Tan Dun’s Nine-Colored Deer and Heart Sutra, highlighting dialogue between Western modernism and Eastern spirituality.

A second segment, “Hakka Whispers & Hong Kong Tea,” featured traditional wind instrumentalists Liu Wenwen and Zhang Meng performing in exchange with 100-year-old villager Wong Keung Ying, connecting contemporary performance with living rural heritage.

The finale, “Martial Arts Romance – Hollow Tree,” revisited Tan Dun’s film compositions, including music from Hero and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, recontextualised within the natural setting.

Part of the 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival’s “Festival PLUS” series, the event formed part of broader efforts to integrate cultural programming with countryside conservation, highlighting rural Hong Kong as a space for artistic production as well as heritage preservation.

Hong Kong’s Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Tse Chin-wan, noted parallel efforts to revitalise remote villages through streamlined licensing measures and infrastructure improvements, including eco-facilities and trail enhancements, supporting sustainable cultural tourism.

For Tan Dun, the festival carried a generational message. He said it represents both an artistic and a social imperative.

By allowing sound, movement and environment to co-author the experience, the Countryside Harvest Festival 2026 offered more than a one-day programme. It proposed an alternative cultural model — one in which artistic excellence, ecological awareness and ancestral memory resonate within the same horizon.

  • One Year After Larysa Jaye’s Passing, C.M. James Continues Her Legacy Through C.M. Jaye Music

One year after Nashville singer-songwriter Larysa Jaye’s passing, C.M. James continues her legacy through C.M. Jaye Music and upcoming album “Don’t Label Me.”

Saying “I am a label” isn’t arrogance. It’s self-awareness. The only label you can put on me is a little bit of everything, and that’s exactly what this album represents.”
    — C.M. James

NASHVILLE, TN, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — One year after the passing of Nashville singer-songwriter Larysa Jaye, the musical vision she helped inspire continues through the work of her older brother, entrepreneur, author, producer and now artist C.M. James. Through his independent Nashville record label C.M. Jaye Music, James is expanding the legacy of the late artist while preparing the release of his upcoming cross-genre album, “Don’t Label Me: I Am A Label. What’s A Genre?

As Nashville continues to evolve as a hub for independent artists and new creative voices, emerging labels like C.M. Jaye Music are helping redefine what the next generation of the city’s music industry can look like. Founded by C.M. James, the label has begun gaining attention for its storytelling-driven approach and willingness to blend genres beyond traditional industry boundaries.

Jaye, a Kansas City native who became a beloved voice in Nashville’s music community, was widely remembered for her soulful songwriting and unique blend of country, blues and soul influences. Following her untimely passing in December 2024, her story resonated throughout the Nashville music scene and beyond.

In 2025, C.M. Jaye Music released Jaye’s first posthumous single, “No Other Face,” honoring the artistry she had been sharing with audiences across Nashville and throughout the independent music world. The release became part of a continuing effort by her family and supporters to ensure her music and creative spirit remain part of the city’s evolving musical landscape.

Now, one year later, that vision is expanding.

C.M. James is stepping forward with his own music project while continuing the mission of the label. His upcoming album, “Don’t Label Me,” reflects a storytelling approach that blends multiple musical influences, including hip-hop, country, soul and spoken narrative elements. The project represents a creative extension of the same boundary-breaking spirit that defined Jaye’s music.

“Larysa always believed music shouldn’t be boxed into one category,” said James. “She believed in telling stories through sound. This album and everything we’re building through C.M. Jaye Music continues that belief.”

While the album marks James’ first full musical release as an artist, it also highlights the broader vision behind C.M. Jaye Music, a platform designed to support diverse voices and storytelling-driven music projects that cross traditional genre boundaries. The album’s rollout will begin with the release of the single “Hey Karla,” a track that reflects the project’s playful storytelling style while blending elements of hip-hop, country and Southern musical influences. The release serves as the first introduction to the broader creative vision behind “Don’t Label Me,” an album designed to challenge genre expectations while embracing the narrative traditions that have long shaped Nashville’s music culture.

For James, the project is both a personal milestone and a continuation of a creative path he and his sister shared.

“Music was always part of us growing up,” he said. “Even though Larysa isn’t here physically, her influence is still part of everything we’re building.”

In addition to music, James is known as an award-winning author and founder of the creative platform C.M. James Writes, where he has developed a growing catalog of books and storytelling projects. His approach to music reflects that same narrative mindset, treating songs not just as standalone tracks but as pieces of a larger story-driven experience that blends writing, production and performance.

As Nashville continues to evolve as a center for diverse musical voices, the story of Larysa Jaye and the work now emerging through C.M. Jaye Music reflects the enduring impact of artists whose influence continues long after the final note.

The extended Malik Yusef–Universal Music Publishing Group partnership marks a milestone in a 17-year relationship and reinforces Yusef’s commitment to global music publishing infrastructure, catalog monetization, and long-term synchronization licensing expansion.

Yusef’s co-publishing agreement includes a 10-year revision sunset clause allowing Universal Music Publishing Group to retain co-publishing royalty participation at a reduced rate for a 10-year period following legal separation. Malik and his publishing company, Jabriel Iz Myne President Burundi Partlow, spoke with Jody Gerson, Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group, about exploring other presented offers in the publishing space. Her recommendation was to speak with the Head of Creative before making any decisions.

In an era where many elite songwriters pivot toward lean administration deals or self-collection models, Yusef has chosen to maintain and expand his traditional co-publishing structure with UMPG, reinforcing his emphasis on infrastructure, global leverage, and generational cultural stewardship.

Yusef’s catalog spans thousands of works, including songwriting credits, production, featured performances, sample derivatives, and collaborative publishing rights. His creative contributions include early and developmental work with Ty Dolla $ign, Travis Scott, Big Sean, John Legend, Kanye West, Common, Snoh Aalegra, Don Tolliver, and others. He has also collaborated with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Pharrell, The Weeknd, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sir Elton John.
Beyond music releases, Yusef’s catalog has generated extensive film, television, commercial, and video game placements including Black Adam, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Hangover II, Peloton, Absolut Vodka, Boost Mobile, and multiple installments of Grand Theft Auto.

Yusef will also continue recruiting creative talent globally to support archival initiatives and synchronization library expansion efforts within the UMPG ecosystem.

Malik Yusef will continue recruiting global creative talent to support archival expansion efforts and to help build one of Universal Music Publishing Group’s most extensive synchronization-focused music libraries.
“While others chase margin, I choose leverage,” said Malik Yusef.

“Being in partnership with a billion-dollar publishing entity like Universal Music Publishing Group allows me to continue serving the next generation the same way I was positioned at the beginning of so many monumental careers that changed culture.”

First Urban Archivist in UMPG History
As part of the extended Universal Music Publishing Group agreement, Malik Yusef continues serving as UMPG’s first Urban Archivist. His role includes:
    • Cultural catalog curation
    • Catalog revitalization strategy

  • Starday Recordings Spotlight Powerful New Releases from Caleb Kenner, Tyler Griffith, Taylor Fugitt, and Amy Kincaid

New Releases from Caleb Kenner, Tyler Griffith, Taylor Fugitt, and Amy Kincaid

NASHVILLE, TN, UNITED STATES, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Starday Recordings Spotlights Powerful New Releases from Caleb Kenner, Tyler Griffith, Taylor Fugitt, and Amy Kincaid

Starday Recordings continues its commitment to story-driven music with a new wave of releases from its growing roster of rising country artists. From heartfelt tributes to high-energy live anthems, the label’s latest projects showcase the depth and diversity of today’s independent country landscape.

Caleb Kenner Releases “Four Little Reasons”

Starday Recordings is proud to announce the release of “Four Little Reasons,” the newest single from Caleb Kenner. One of his most personal songs to date, the track serves as a heartfelt tribute to his four daughters and the joy of fatherhood. Family sits at the center of Kenner’s life, and “Four Little Reasons” captures that truth with warmth and sincerity, inviting listeners to see their own stories reflected in the music.

Kenner has become a staple on stages across the Midwest, where his high-energy performances seamlessly blend original material with crowd-favorite classics. Earlier this year, he left a lasting impression with a special set at the Guitars & Cadillacs Battle Showdown in Omaha. He has also teamed up with fellow flyover country artist Jaden Schumacher on a summer-ready collaboration slated for release in late spring, launching a packed Summer 2026 performance schedule. With momentum building and a growing fanbase, Caleb Kenner is quickly becoming a must-see live act. His full catalog is available on all major streaming platforms.

Tyler Griffith Prepares Third Single, “Outliers”

Tyler Griffith is set to release his third single, “Outliers,” on March 6. Written straight from the heart, the track finds Griffith balancing optimism against the noise of the world, confronting responsibility, faith, and perseverance with honesty and hope. With a confident nod to critics to “mind your own business,” “Outliers” reflects the reality of providing for a family while choosing joy—a defining thread throughout Griffith’s artistry.

Based in Colorado, Griffith performs extensively throughout the Midwest and beyond, appearing at venues ranging from regional stages to The Rhinestone Saloon in Fort Worth’s historic Stockyards. He is also slated to appear at Iron Horse Festival 2026 on August 29, further cementing his reputation as a compelling live performer. Griffith’s latest releases are streaming now, and he will return to the studio this spring to record a special cover track designed to spark nostalgia and soundtrack the coming summer.

Taylor Fugitt Debuts with “Shouldn’t Have To”

Starday’s newest addition, rising Kansas country artist Taylor Fugitt, marks a bold new chapter for one of the Midwest’s most promising young voices. Her debut single with the label, “Shouldn’t Have To,” arrives March 20 and introduces listeners to an artist unafraid to confront the darker side of life.

Rooted in heartland storytelling and sharpened by modern country sensibilities, Fugitt’s artistry has been shaped since childhood. Growing up watching her father write and perform, she learned early that music was more than entertainment—it was a way to process life. That foundation fuels her songwriting today, where vulnerability meets quiet strength.

“I’ve tried to really lean into that truth in my songs and fully own who I am—the good, the bad, and the tough-to-talk-about,” Fugitt shares.

After steadily building momentum over the past five years, Fugitt will return to the studio later this month to begin work on her follow-up release. Drawing inspiration from artists across multiple genres, she delivers a grounded, heartfelt sound distinctly her own. With a summer of live performances ahead and new music on deck, Taylor Fugitt is stepping confidently into the spotlight. “Shouldn’t Have To” will be available on all major streaming platforms on March 20.

    Amy Kincaid Continues Upward Momentum

Amy Kincaid has continued to build momentum since joining the Starday roster in 2025. Her most recent single, “Momma Needs A Drink,” has achieved her strongest streaming traction to date, gaining significant attention on Spotify and other major platforms.

Based in South Carolina, Kincaid regularly collaborates with her husband, Kurtis, and her production team on new material. She has expanded her reach beyond her home state with performances in Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee, and will appear at select special events throughout the Plains States this year. In addition to new music, she is preparing to launch a new brand initiative in partnership with Starday Recordings.

    Looking Ahead

Starday Recordings and its parent company, AMC Label Group, continue to expand their footprint in the independent country space. Managing Director Aaron Platt and Head of A&R Luke Mills remain focused on developing distinctive talent and delivering music rooted in authenticity and craft.

With multiple releases rolling out and additional signings on the horizon, Starday Recordings is poised for a powerful year ahead—bringing compelling new voices to audiences across the country.

  • Tarik Shah’s Story Of Resilience and Redemption Is Gaining Traction Across the Country

The new documentary “Tarik Shah: Don’t Play Like Them” will be screening at 4 film festivals in March and April.

I did not know I had been their target since as far back as 2001”
    — Tarik Shah

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — At a time when federal law enforcement actions and immigration enforcement operations dominate national headlines — from ICE raids to protests in Minneapolis and beyond — a new documentary tells a compelling story that foreshadowed today’s troubles.

“Tarik Shah: Don’t Play Like Them,” a documentary by filmmaker Barry Rubinow, tells the story of a musician at the top of his game, who was entrapped by the FBI, and arrested on terrorism charges.

BEFORE THE ARREST: A RISING FORCE IN JAZZ

Long before his arrest in 2005, Tarik Shah was a respected presence in the New York jazz world.

He began playing upright bass at age 12. By 14, he was already working gigs. At 16, he studied with the legendary Slam Stewart, whose résumé included collaborations with Art Tatum, Charlie Parker, and Dizzy Gillespie.

By his early 20s, Shah was touring and recording in Europe with jazz icon Betty Carter. Over the years he performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Pharoah Sanders, Ahmad Jamal, Randy Weston, Abbey Lincoln, Barry Harris, and The Duke Ellington Orchestra.
In 1993, he performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra at President Bill Clinton’s inaugural ball.
He was a working professional at the top of his craft.

A STORY THAT FEELS URGENT AGAIN

Arrested in 2005 in an FBI counterterrorism sting operation during the post-9/11 era, Shah spent over 2 and a half years in complete isolation, an innocent man forced into solitary confinement for being Muslim. He was forced to plead guilty to one terrorism charge, so that he could avoid spending the rest of his life in jail. While prosecutors described the case as necessary national security work, Shah has long maintained he was lured into a case shaped by fear and political climate.

Today, as communities across the country debate federal enforcement power, surveillance, immigration actions, and civil liberties — Shah’s story resonates with renewed urgency.

But this film is not a political argument.

    It is a human one.

“Tarik Shah: Don’t Play Like Them” explores:

    · The cost of incarceration on artists and identity

    · The power of stigma in American life

    · The difficulty of reintegration after high-profile convictions

    · The role of music as therapy and survival

In a moment when public debate again centers on enforcement, fear, and civil rights, this documentary asks audiences to consider something deeper.

    THE LONG ROAD BACK

When Shah was released in 2018, he had not touched an upright bass in 13 years. His fingers were stiff with arthritis. The jazz world he once knew had changed. His name now carried a stigma that made booking gigs difficult.

    Yet he refused to quit.

The New York Times wrote of jazz bassist Tarik Shah that “rebuilding a career after 13 years behind bars on terrorism charges might make it near impossible.”

    He secured a new instrument.
He studied again with a classical teacher.
He practiced methodically to rebuild his hands and technique.

Today, he performs regularly in New York City and the Capital Region. He leads weekly jam sessions in Troy. He teaches students. He supports himself through music once again.

Note by note, he rebuilt a life.

HOPE AT THE END OF A LONG TUNNEL

At a time when headlines focus on division and enforcement, this documentary offers something quieter — but powerful:

A story of art surviving incarceration.
A story of identity surviving stigma.
A story of hope after a very long, dark tunnel.
An inspiring story of resilience and rebirth

SANTA MONICA, CA, UNITED STATES, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SM Festivals, and the City of Santa Monica announce more details for the Santa Monica International Jazz Festival debuting May 1 – 9, 2026. After double 2026 Grammy wins, Kamasi Washington will headline this new destination event at Tongva Park on May 9th, the first full-scale concert held at Santa Monica’s premier green space.

    Stanley Clarke says:
“I’ve performed at the finest jazz festivals around the world, and I can’t think of a locale to stage an annual international jazz festival comparable to Santa Monica, California, with all of the wonderful assets it has to offer as a coastal destination. I’m excited about the extraordinary lineup of major global jazz artists we have set to perform as well as some new young jazz musicians.”

    Stewart Copeland says:
“Stanley Clarke and I first trod the boards together in 1981 and have lit each other up at every opportunity since then. My daddy guided and raised me to be a jazz musician – all in preparation to play with such a giant.”

LA’s KNOWER will play a full band live set at the May 9th finale as well, while the Miles Electric Band (M.E.B.), fronted by Davis’ nephew Vince Wilburn, Jr, will take the Tonga Park stage to pay tribute to Davis’ towering legacy.

Hiromi’s Sonicwonder, led by world-renowned pianist Hiromi Uehara, will perform in a pre-festival May 1st show just a few miles away at the Orpheum Theatre. The festival proper will kick off at Third Street Promenade on May 3rd with a free-to-the public, all-day event featuring high-quality young L.A.-based musicians and budding students on the cusp of professional careers.

Rob Bailis, Executive and Artistic Director, BroadStage says:

  • EVERGLOW Releases 4th Mini Album, CODE

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Korean girl group EVERGLOW has released their 4th mini album, CODE, ahead of their upcoming world tour, RE:CODE. The release of CODE is their first album as four members and under their new management company CHXXTA COMPANY.

“Our new album, CODE, opens a new chapter for EVERGLOW, and presents a narrative that progresses from ‘awakening’ to ‘focus,’ ‘decoding,’ and ultimately to ‘connection’ through four tracks.” – SIHYEON, member of EVERGLOW

CODE has four total tracks, starting with the intro instrumental track, “BREAKOUT,” that sets the tone of the album, with the music itself signaling a new beginning and a leap into the future. The second track, “FOCUS,” portrays the moment in which all senses converge at once on oneself, and its heightened state of concentration transitions directly into the title track “CODE,” creating a pivotal turning point in the album’s narrative to break existing logic and algorithms set in place to amplify feelings of liberation and natural instincts flowing through and beyond control. “CODE” serves as the central axis of the album, most clearly expressing the universe lore and message EVERGLOW has chosen. The album closes out with “Can’t Be Broken”, with lyrics written by the EVERGLOW members in order to deliver a sincere and heartfelt message to their fans. It’s a song with an alternative rock band sound as a base with pop-driven melodies representing the bond between EVERGLOW and their fandom, FOREVER, as they illuminate one another through countless challenges.

“This album most clearly delivers the sound and message we personally chose, and we hope it stays with you for a long time too.” – ONDA, member of EVERGLOW

EVERGLOW is set to embark on their world tour, RE:CODE, which starts in Seoul on March 21st for back-to-back performances, and then continues on to seven cities across North America from April 17th to May 8th. After visiting North America, the group will also meet fans in Latin America and Europe, in cities including Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Milan, Munich, Budapest, Berlin, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Paris, and London. It’s possible that additional stops may be added for this tour based on fans’ reactions and schedules. Information regarding this will be updated in the future.

  • Detroit Hip-Hop Takes Center Stage at Official SXSW Showcase

Detroit 313 Selects Spotlights the City’s Rising Music Economy in Austin

SXSW is an opportunity to show the world that Detroit isn’t just influencing hip-hop, it’s helping define its independent future.”
    — Adrian Tonon, Co-producer

    DETROIT, MI, UNITED STATES, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ —
Detroit’s hip-hop scene will take the national stage this March as the city hosts an Official Artist Showcase at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference in Austin, Texas.

Set for Monday, March 16 at 8:00 p.m. at Riviera (1501 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702), the official Detroit 313 Selects showcase will spotlight the artists, energy, and independent spirit fueling Detroit’s growing music economy.

Detroit hip-hop has become one of the most influential regional forces in music, known for its raw lyricism, distinctive production style, and entrepreneurial approach to audience building. The SXSW showcase highlights a movement built largely outside the traditional major-label system, one driven by ownership, collaboration, and direct-to-fan momentum.

    Headlining the showcase are:
    • Bruiser Wolf — one of Detroit’s most recognizable voices, known for his unmistakable delivery and nationally acclaimed releases.
    • Nasaan — a rising artist representing Detroit’s next generation of lyrical storytelling.

    Additional featured artists include:
    • Neisha Neshae
    • B Free
    • Asaka The Renegade
    • 2Down
    • Demaciiio
    • Golden Boy Noel
    • Que The Boy
    • South North Southwest
    • DJ Beastie

Together, the lineup reflects a city where hip-hop operates not only as cultural expression, but as an economic engine, driving touring careers, independent labels, collaborations, and new business opportunities rooted in Detroit.

“Detroit hip-hop has always moved culture, but now it’s moving economics,” said Adrian Tonon, co-producer and the City of Detroit’s former Night Time Mayor. “What makes this moment powerful is that artists here aren’t waiting for permission. They’re building careers, audiences, and ownership from within the city. SXSW is an opportunity to show the world that Detroit isn’t just influencing hip-hop, it’s helping define its independent future.”

As independent artists continue reshaping the music business, Detroit stands at the forefront of that shift. The official SXSW showcase marks a milestone moment for a city whose creative influence has long resonated across hip-hop and whose infrastructure and unity are now gaining broader national visibility.

    About Detroit 313 Selects
Detroit 313 Selects is a Detroit-based initiative dedicated to elevating and exporting the city’s hip-hop and music economy through curated showcases, artist development, and national platform opportunities. The organization connects Detroit artists with global audiences while strengthening the city’s independent creative ecosystem.

  • Tan Jing Performs at Lincoln Center, Bringing Lunar Festival Celebration to Global Audiences

Internationally acclaimed vocalist Tan Jing performed at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City with the Manhattan Philharmonic.

NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Internationally acclaimed crossover vocalist Tan Jing took the stage at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center on Sunday evening for Tan Jing’s Musical Journey — A Brilliant Melody, a symphonic concert presented by the Manhattan Philharmonic and Xiyu Productions. Held on the eve of the Chinese Lantern Festival, the performance transformed one of America’s most prestigious concert venues into a gathering place for global audiences and overseas Chinese communities, highlighting music as a bridge between cultures.

Audiences traveled from across the United States — including California, Texas, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. — as well as from cities in China such as Beijing and Shanghai. Many attendees discovered Tan Jing through her recordings long before meeting her in person, drawn by a style widely recognized for blending classical technique with folk traditions and contemporary expression.

The evening opened with the powerful orchestral theme from The Magnificent Seven, setting a cinematic tone before transitioning into a program spanning both Western symphonic repertoire and Chinese musical heritage.

Tan Jing then performed a diverse selection of works including On the Eastern Mountain, Ronghua, Longing, Red Rooster Feather Legs, Missing You Dearly, Walk the Road of Life, May We All Be Blessed With Longevity, Dragon Script, and Jiu’er. The repertoire guided listeners from the sweeping imagery of the American frontier into the lyrical emotional depth of Eastern musical traditions.

A highlight of the evening was Tan Jing’s duet with an American male vocalist on the Shanxi folk song Missing You Dearly, vividly illustrating cultural dialogue through shared melody.

“Music transcends language and borders,” Tan Jing said during the concert. “It is a bridge that connects hearts and builds friendship. Through melody, I hope to present the unique beauty of Chinese music and share our stories with the world.”

The concert also featured celebrated erhu virtuoso Chen Jun, a designated inheritor of China’s intangible cultural heritage, and his daughter, rising erhu artist Chen Yimiao. Their performance of the original work Taiji Qin Xia embodied the philosophy of yin and yang, while their duet Galloping War Horse — composed in 1976 by Chen Jun’s father Chen Yaoxing — marked the piece’s 50th anniversary, adding historical significance to the program.

Conducted by Fang Fei, the Manhattan Philharmonic delivered a richly layered performance weaving brass and strings into sweeping crescendos that drew repeated standing ovations. The repertoire incorporated folk, bel canto, pop, rock, musical theater, and classical elements, emphasizing the versatility of both performers and orchestra.

“We invited Tan Jing before the Lantern Festival not only to share the blessings of the Chinese New Year,” said conductor Fang Fei, “but also to allow audiences from around the world to experience the artistry and emotional power of Chinese music. Cultural exchange between East and West is a defining trend of our time, and music is one of its most powerful expressions.”

For many overseas Chinese families in attendance, the evening carried personal meaning beyond performance. “Tonight’s music is both my voice and my holiday greeting,” Tan Jing told the audience. “To friends and families living far from home — thank you for preserving our culture, language, and music wherever you are.”

Tan Jing emphasized that sharing Chinese stories through music remains a responsibility for artists in a global era. She expressed her commitment to continuing international collaborations and creating new works that introduce the beauty of Chinese culture to worldwide audiences.
